The governor of the state of São Paulo, João Doria, announced last Wednesday, in a press conference, that the Paulista Championship has already received the green light to return on July 22.

The press conference in question, included the president of the São Paulo Football Federation, Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, and one of the vice-presidents of the football body, Mauro Silva. Days ago, the São Paulo Football Federation itself had asked the government of São Paulo to authorize the return of Paulistão.

"On July 22, the first round of the Paulista Championship will take place. Paulistão was paralyzed with six rounds left to reach the end. The forecast is that the final will be played possibly on August 8, Saturday, and the next day , it seems, the Brazilian Championship begins "- Communicated, João Doria.

Meanwhile, the president of the Paulista Football Federation is negotiating with the CBF to organize the calendar so that the clubs belonging to the Brazilian Football Championship can compete in the competition.

"We will find the best path, the best way. This matter will be dealt with when we define the two finalists. It depends on who is in the final" - affirms the president.

The governor of the state of São Paulo said that football games can only be held in cities where they are under the "yellow flag" of the São Paulo Plan. In this case, the city of Santos, Campinas and Ribeirão Preto will not be able to host the future matches of Paulistão because they are in “Red and orange flag”.

"The Covid-19 Contingency Center approved, together with the Paulista Football Federation, with medical assistance from the Football Federation of São Paulo, the new protocol for the resumption of the Paulista Championship. The games should be held in cities that are in the yellow phase of the São Paulo Plan and behind closed doors"- said, Doria.

There are still some issues to be debated within the Paulista Football Federation that will still carry out new plans with the clubs belonging to the elite division of the state competition.

"This Thursday, 11am, a new Technical Council of the competition was called with all participating clubs to define details of the resumption.

Next Tuesday (14), also at 11 am, the FPF will hold a meeting with the representatives of the Paulista Championship Série A2 to discuss the next steps for the return of the competition".
